The Way Back is an upcoming adventure drama movie written and directed by Peter Weir (who once brought us Master and Commander) based on "The Long Walk", the ghostwritten memoir of Slawomir Rawicz. The story revolves around a group of soldiers who escaped from a Siberian gulag in 1940. The film is starring Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, and Saoirse Ronan. The Way Back will be released on December 29, 2010.Here's a first look at the Way Back movie:

Plot:
"When they escape a Siberian labor camp in 1940, seven courageous multi-national prisoners discover the true meaning of friendship as their epic journey takes them across thousands of miles of hostile terrain en-route to India and their freedom."
The Long Walk has been touted as a true story, but its veracity is in doubt... Official records just don't match with quite a few points of Rawicz's "memoir". But it's still a damn great story, and it totally deserves to be adapted into a movie.
