Nini Maramis, the wife of former environment minister Sarwono Kusumaatmadja, died on Sunday morning after a two-year bout with cancer.
Nini’s son Nino Krishna said that his mother had been treated at Gading Pluit Hospital for the past month.
“She never complained. She advised that father and us take care of ourselves,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Sarwono had reduced his workload to spend more time with his wife over the past two years, he added.
Nino said his mother met his father during a trip to Italy. Their relationship continued during their studies at the Bandung Institute of Technology, and they got married in 1969.
Throughout her life, Nini was very active in social and women's empowerment activities. She will be buried on Tuesday at Sandiago Hill
