Cataclysm Alliance Leveling Guide - 5 Tips to Speed Up Your Leveling Time

I've been playing World of Warcraft since it launched back in 2004. The game was still new and a lot of bugs were getting worked out, but it was still a lot of fun. However, when I got started, there were some key concepts I didn't grasp. Suffice it to say, when I got started, I was doing it wrong. That was until I found a good Alliance Leveling Guide. Here are 5 tips that I picked up from that guide.

1 - Know your Class. Each class in the game has an appropriate leveling spec that will serve you well when going solo through the game. Any good Alliance Leveling Guide will help you through picking your talents wisely so that you will be most effective when going out on your own to finish your quests. Typically you will want to go for any skills that increase your damage, reduce your down time (health and mana regen) and increase movement speed (faster mob killing and quest completion). For example, healing classes don't level well. Unless you want to spend your days locked in a dungeon (instance leveling) you'll want a dps/leveling spec appropriate to your class.

2 - Know your zones. Depending on your faction (I'm assuming you are Alliance if you're reading this) and your race, you may have a slightly different questing path to get you through the leveling process. Traditionally, the Eastern Kingdoms were heavily controlled by the Alliance, and Kalimdor was primarily Horde territory. However, with the Cataclysm's release, it's now pretty evenly distributed. Worgen, Night Elves, and Draenei all start out in Kalimdor (after starting zones are completed) while Humans, Dwarves, and Gnomes are all based out of the Eastern Kingdoms. However, access to the opposite continent is now much easier since Wotlk's completion of Stormwind Harbor to unite Azeroth. A good Alliance Leveling Guide will have you completing all your quests in a fairly streamlined manner, no matter which race you choose to level up.

3 - Questing vs. Grinding. Since Burning Crusade, Questing has been the primary way to level up in World of Warcraft. Many leveling guides previously boasted various dungeon grinding or AoE Grinding. However a quality alliance leveling guide will have you almost constantly moving from quest to quest, keeping you busy constantly, and hearing that "ding" very often. As such, you need to know exactly where to pick up quests, drop them off, and find appropriate quest objectives.

4 - Dungeon Questing. Dungeons are one of the most fun and exciting ways to group up in World of Warcraft. It's a great way to get some fast experience and new gear. However, dungeon quests are not to be overlooked. These always have great rewards of blue/rare quality items, and that can greatly increase your ability to level up while questing solo. Make sure your Alliance Leveling Guide has all available dungeon quests, along with details on where to pick them up, objectives, and completion.

5 - Get big Bags - Oh Emm Eff Gee, I wish I followed this back then. Bags are worth so much more than you pay for them. First things first, make sure you have a bag in each slot. When you get out of your starting zone, invest in the largest size bag you can. The more you can carry, the less you have to return to town to unload your bags. NEVER destroy any items, until you have determined for sure that they are worthless. Grey quality items can be sold for decent coin, while almost all white or higher quality items are used by quests or professions to make more valuable items. These can go for quite well on the Auction house. If you are following the right Alliance Leveling Guide, they may tell you what's useful and what you can trash. In the meantime, don't destroy ANYTHING. You're just throwing away money.

So as you can see, these can be very commonly made mistakes in the wow leveling process. I have compiled a number of resources to help you get going faster at
